    The Gulf of Tonkin is off the eastern coast of North Vietnam.

    (Well, actually Vietnam is all one country now, but when there was a North and South Vietnam, the Gulf of Tonkin was off the coast of North Vietnam.)

    It is also off the coast of China, where China and Vietnam meet. Look at a map!
