B. All the rest occurred after the war was under way.

    B) The Gulf of Tonkin Incident led Congress to pass the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution allowing the President broad powers to escalate US involvement in Vietnam, and was followed proptly by a large scale bombing campaign (Operation Pierce Arrow) against targets in North Vietnam, and the communists retaliated, striking airfields that US attack aircraft flew from. In response, the President ordered in the Marines to defend the airfields and thus, really, began the escalation of ground combat and air operations in Vietnam.

    its definately B. after the north vietnamese supposedly attacked a US ship in the gulf of tonkin in vietnam, congress passed the gulf of tonkin resolutions giving president johnson the power to do anything he wanted with the vietnam situation.
